The additional ring surrounding the Robot Knife is a superior set-up for dealing with frozen meat. It slightly distances the knife from the plate, avoiding compression and frozen meat build-up. This results in less wear and tear on your plate and knife. The product complete with ring is not suitable for fresh meat grinding. However, the ring is removable, leaving you with a solid Robot knife that can be used for fresh applications.
